The Kaukauna Water Utility Has Filed an Application With the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to Increase Water Rates

This increase is necessary due to increases in capital additions and increases in operating costs associated with water quality issues and water distribution maintenance.

The total increase in water revenues requested is $469,383 which will result in an estimated overall increase of 17% over the water utility’s present revenues. The actual increase to individual customers will vary with water usage and the ultimate rates authorized by the PSCW. If the request is granted as filed, the water bill for an average residential customer with a 5/8-inch or 3/4-inch meter who uses 540 cubic feet of water per month will increase from $22.98 to $27.65, or 20% (excluding Public Fire Protection) or $26.64 to $33.85, or 27% (including Public Fire Protection).

A telephonic public hearing on the application has been scheduled for Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Assembly Room, Kaukauna Utilities, 777 Island Street, Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Scheduling questions regarding this hearing may be directed to the PSCW at (608) 266-3766.
