Kaukauna Utilities is a community-owned, not-for-profit public power utility. That means decisions are made locally, with a focus on providing reliable, affordable electricity and serving the needs of our customers – not generating profits for shareholders. We’re proud to be one of more than 2,000 public power utilities across the country committed to serving their communities. That’s the power of public power.
Why is Kaukauna known as the Electric City? Kaukauna’s Electric City legacy is rooted in its early use of locally generated electricity and hydropower. Rapide Croche Hydro, built in 1926, has been part of that story for 100 years. Today, KU’s seven hydroelectric plants along the Fox River provide approximately 30% of the electricity needed to serve our customers.
